I mean, factually it’s an accurate statement. Sure.

But we’re also dang close to being undefeated. As is, we’re 10–2 against a P4 schedule and that’s pretty freaking awesome.

Now, the portal thing… I’m kind of with you here.

I maintain the BYU can level up in football by simply increasing its share of the elite top LDS talent, say by 20 or 30%. In other words, we bring in 2-4 top rated LDS guys a year that we haven’t previously been getting. Half of them pan out, that ends up being 3 to 6 really good players that can be in our starting lineup at a given time. That alone will make a difference.

Each passing year that we keep failing to increase our share of guys like this represents another missed opportunity.
