It's not the school's money. It's private people spending private money.
These people are extremely wealthy and give significantly more to charities. They also believe in BYU and the lift the school receives by having a nationally relevant football team. It's basically a marketing donation.

I don't see how you can find fault with this unless your philosophy is we should all be living the law of consecration.
