It's a super unique set of circumstances where you'd choose to do it.
It shouldn't have happened tonight except for these two poor decisions:
- the Broncos throwing an incomplete pass on 2nd down
- the Broncos interfering with the fair catch which gave the Chargers an extra 15 yards AND still the opportunity to call for a free kick.
Not many times in the NFL will a team fair catch a punt around the 50 with less than 8 or so seconds left in the half. And it would only be a thing in the first half as no team would ever give the other team such a chance in a game where a FG would make a difference.
