I think there is a lot of truth behind the ever more elusive payoff of medicine
To be fair, it can still be well-compensated and a pathway to comfort, but that is diminishing. The loss of autonomy from administrators and insurers coupled with ever increasing downward pressure on reimbursements and ballooning student debts with career-long high interest payments and lower compensations can make it feel like the dream is gone and will be forever out of reach.
