Calling into Social Security to ask a simple question should be fairly easy, right? NOPE.
If you call in the wait time is usually 90-120 minutes. And then when you talk to them - you may get a different answer depending on who you talk to. My initial call I waited the 90 minutes. I got one answer. Then I called a couple of weeks later - again with 90-120 minute wait. I got a different answer.
So then I thought - I will physically go down to the local Social Security office. I did that. Wait time in the office was over an hour. When I finally talked to someone - all I got was another phone call where they would call me - and that was scheduled a month later. That call ended up being good as the person I talked to knew the answers and got things moving. But it was ridiculous how inefficient and how low quality most of my interactions were with Social Security.
