I’ve been reading the scoring rules several times, and then I started pulling up errors on Baseball Savant and watching to get a feel for what the professionals consider an error.

I get so tired of parents arguing to me that their son shouldn’t get a reach on error because it was a hard hit ball, even though it was hit directly at the infielder. So I’ve been trying to learn the actual rules so I can feel confident that I got it right, even if the parents don’t like it.
