I like it better than chuck roast, it’s more expensive per pound but cheaper per unit and much simpler to cook. Brisket
is an art and is king. But if you want something faster, cheaper per unit, and more realistic for a family dinner then tri-tip is great. I’m not cooking a whole brisket ($60-100) for the average Sunday dinner. For $25 I can cook it on a Sunday afternoon after church and my family likes it better than medium rare. Is not for everyone but it’s really good IMO.
