With the recent signings of Dybansta and Staton, as well as last years signing of Catchings and Demon, it's pretty clear there's been a massive shift in the NIL philosophy around BYU basketball. I love it. I think it's fantastic. I never would have imagined BYU would have consistent top 25 recruiting classes, let alone sign the #1 prospect in the country. Kevin Young is obviously bringing a different energy and philosophy to BYU basketball.
All that being said, am I the only one wondering why we aren't seeing the same shift with BYU football? Why aren't we landing more 4⭐ recruits that aren't traditional "BYU guys"? Why aren't we seeing more high profile movement in the transfer portal? Don't get me wrong, Carsen Ryan is great, and I love to see us flip someone from Utah, but it just doesn't seem like football is getting the same level of NIL commitment as basketball? Why is that? Does anyone have inside information? Heck, I'll even take a well thought out theory at this point...
