I think they are fine as a 2nd or 3rd car or whatever
My sister got a Model Y to run kids around town, but they already had 3 other ICE vehicles. They probably save enough in gas to pay the payment on it because they were using an Expedition to run kids around before that.
I wouldn't want one for my primary vehicle.
