If you want to play the story in order, play RDR2 and then RDR1 as that's the chronology between the game's two settings. If story doesn't matter and you're looking for a smooth-story western action game, play RDR1 first. If you're looking for an immersive sim with action set pieces instead, play RDR2 first.
