clunkers that year too. Seemed that once Houk got hurt against SJSU he really struggled (barely won that one, lost to Missouri and Utah) I think Houk helped open up everything else for him by being the de facto tight end. Had some good moments (not just the hail Marys/bombs) but had some bad games too. Also, not allowing him to throw the deep ball as much hurt him as it was one of his best weapons. It kept defenses more honest.
The 2017 team also did not have as good of a D or running game to support as that 2015 team. Always helps a QB with less pressure on just them.
