Say we had beat Kansas, go to the Big 12 championship game and lose. Finish season 11-2. We would be left out of CFP.
Seems like our only shot this year was to go undefeated and/or win the Big 12 championship game. Amazing we were close to doing it, but interesting that our season would have to be pretty much perfect (only 1 loss allowed) to make it in the CFP.
