"Associated with" is fine. "Mistaken for" is different. They're different schools & should be distinquished as such.

This. I’m a BYU-I defender, but it irks me when someone says “I go to BYU” when referring to BYU-I.

I am a member of the Church first. A BYU grad second. A big fan of BYU-I next. They all fit under my identity umbrella
