Changes coming in 2025 are bad for BYU and CFB in general
For all the hand wringing on here about NIL hurting BYU, our recruiting improved since its implementation. Huge NIL deals helped bring parity by allowing teams like SMU to get good players. This season was a fun one with lots of parity.

Changes being made in 2025 will end the good times. NCAA says it will crack down in NIL deals that are above the “market rate.” All NIL deals will be capped at the actual marketing/advertising value of a player’s name image and likeness. No more paying Egor Demin $2 million to come to BYU.

Big 10 and SEC teams with big athletics revenues due to TV deals will now dominate in paying players because of revenue sharing. Recruits will choose Big 10 bottom feeders to get paid instead of teams with rich fans like BYU or SMU.

Roster limits instead of scholarship limits will worsen the problem because Big 10 and SEC teams will now give offers(and revenue sharing money)to 105 players instead of 85, leaving less talent for underdog programs.

The big dogs always get their way and everyone else gets screwed. NIL madness was fun while it lasted.
