I've said all along, the problem with Washington was the name. While the problem with Cleveland was the logo. Both teams owners doubled down bring unwilling to compromise, so in end the teams' identities were blown up. Washington could have kept the imagery if they changed their name before it boiled over into a controversy. Same with Cleveland and their nickname.
Case in point: the Atlanta Braves eliminated their caricature logo from the 80s and there are very few complaints about their identity ever since.
