Just compare Hill to Arod in two years and look at what he did.
In 2023, BYU was ranked 11th out of 14 Big XII teams in total defense allowing 417 yards per game. As of last week BYU was ranked 1st, w/ 318 yds per game. Currently they're ranked 2nd in the conf at 323 yards a game. That is an improvement of basically 100 fewer yards per game in one single year. This is the type of results you see with a great coordinator, not an average or even below average one, like Arod.
With Hill, recruiting last year was the best class in a decade. A defensive heavy class largely due to specific players Hill targeted for his schemes including the best player in the state of Utah (Satuala) rated a 94, which is one of the highest ranked recruits ever to join the program.
