Only means less of those things in established parts of town, but not in new
developments where it can be designed in correctly from the beginning. For older parts of town, maybe one option is to promote certain roads as car friendly and others as bike friendly and make minor modifications to support that.
The problem is sadly bad original design from the neighborhood builders of decades ago. They were, in many cases, idiots.
