Sure. Lots of competing psychological forces. And yet, no discernible net force one way or the other as a result of
previous play… which is exactly what momentum is supposed to be.

If BYU is just as likely to come out strong on Saturday as to come out flat, it’s not a result of psychological “momentum” as it’s been used repeatedly on CB.

Whether it’s complicated and multifaceted or not, it has to have some kind of net effect, or else it’s not a force at all. We’re just treating something as predictive that’s really only descriptive of past events.
