We've won (largely) on the backs of things that aren't great forward-looking predictors
That's absolutely not to say we didn't deserve to win. But if someone (Vegas, poll rankers, media, fans, statisticians) was looking at us, they'd see that we were great in things that generally can't be relied upon

And yet, those same things just kept coming through for us. Against Utah we got a special team TD and were +3 in turnovers. (And I know we like to claim that's purely a result of our play, but consider that we had two fumbles bounce straight back to us or that one Utah pick was a gift based entirely on their miscommunication. Rose threw it where 90% of us could have made the interception).

And despite all those huge advantages (that statistically carry over less than things like 3rd down conversion percentage) Until last night. We were playing with fire and it was a matter of time.

We're a lot like TCU of a few years back. Probably not as good as our resume, but have to be ranked high because we just keep winning. But we're also good enough to steal a game against a great opponent....or be blown out against an elite one
