One loss hurts you more when (1) you’ve played 8 games instead of 12 and (2) it
happens in the regular season instead of in a CCG.

For example, let’s say there are six 2-loss SEC teams at the end of the regular season. The loser of the CCG now has 3 losses. The CFP is not going to drop that team below another 2-loss team that couldn’t even make the CCG. The committee has said as much. The committee doesn’t want to create a situation where teams were better off not playing in a CCG at all.

We will drop more if we lose to Kansas this week than to CU in the CCG.
