Most of the time it's just referred to as Georgia Tech
Hence GT, not GIT.
Same way VT is the short name for Virginia Tech instead of VPISU (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University)
Or how the University of Kansas is KU, not UK
Or that University of California - Berkeley is Cal. But University of Cal - Los Angeles is UCLA
