seem like an unfair standard — it really should be the standard for a 4 star rated QB with the kinds of offers he received. As a general rule, 4 star QBs are expected to start early and young and not just start but are game ready — hence the rating. The rating isn’t based upon the analysts thoughts on potential — its based upon where the analyst thinks the players development and readiness is at the time of the rating.
My opinion — Wilson was always the level and potential of the typical 3 star QB. A good HS QB with many question marks and uncertainty as to whether he would translate to the college game where he would no longer always have the superior line and skill players flanking him.
His play this season has shown, his development is not nearly as far along as the analyst ratings though.
He may develop into a serviceable QB but with all the Hours and QB work he’s put in his lifetime — we have a pretty good idea of what he’s capable of already.
