You can buy the civilian model right now from Springfield as the M1A, you can't get a surplus M14 because it's select
fire.
I also want the M1A. What sucks is they chamber it in .308 like the proper military version, but since these aren't actual military issue, I wish they'd offer a 3006 version.
The only reason I haven't picked one up is because I'm not ready yet to stock up on .308 for just a single firearm.
My long term plan is to grab an M1A when I finally decide to build some form of AR-10 platform.
