There is no matchup advantage to being 5 over 4, it just means you have to play an extra game where in addition to risking getting bounced by the lower-seeded team, you are risking losing players to targeting penalties or injuries, and you’re giving your opponent one more game of film and analytics to study up on that weekend.

And like I said, while it would be cool to host a playoff game in Provo, it would be even cooler to have a guaranteed spot in the next round.

I get the idea of wanting a better semifinal matchup from the 6–7 spots but even then, not worth having to play the extra game IMO.
