You do realize that applies to the five seed as well, right?

“We'd win our first game at LES, and that alone would bring respect to both the Big 12 and especially BYU.”

If BYU is the five seed, it means they either didn’t win the B12 championship or Boise State has somehow leapfrogged them. Either way that means we’re starting from a place of less respect for both BYU and the Big 12.

It also means BYU has to play another game. Yeah, it would be cool to play a playoff game in Provo, but I’m going to argue it’s cooler to let a quarterfinal opponent play that game while you stay healthy and get more film on your opponent and maybe gain an advantage against them because of a targeting penalty or a key player getting banged up.

Call me crazy but I’ll take the first round bye every time, but especially the four over a five in the current format.
