They don't necessarily have to be fun but they should give you an idea of what it would be like to spend 4 years on campus. Kids go on tours wondering, can I see myself at this school.
A drive around campus doesn't do that. Disinterested tour guides doesn't do that. Spouting things that I can find online doesn't do that.
Sitting in a classroom or dorm or sporting event or library helps you do that. Meeting kids that are excited about being there does that.
Particularly for kids who have never been on campus before (again I am on the east coast) and have only heard stories about what makes BYU awesome from others.
