...that Bronco was replacing a coach who had a scandal that included allegations of gang rape at parties, etc., it would make sense that the Board of Directors would want to have that reputation cleaned up - and him having to determine how to best do that and what that meant to him. And to him, it meant leaning into the religious angle of BYU.
I can understand how in a rivalry someone might perceive that him stating "we expect this of ourselves" when talking about the honor code could come across as judgmental - but it's no more judgmental than any member of the LDS church who declines when offered a drink or a smoke. Which is what made it strange to me that it was strong church members in leadership positions I knew who were so bothered by it.
