it very clear that Galadriel isn't just tall, but taller than most men and that her height is a big part of her aura and commanding presence. It's not just incidental, but a key piece of her persona.
Instead we get this little hobbit-ish girl that - along with Elrond - make it seem like the producers confused the Elves of Middle Earth with Santa's elves. And we're treated to this 5'2 95 pound cheerleader type wielding massive swords as big as she is and overpowering all kinds of baddies.
But some of the other casting is excellent. I agree that Bombadil was brilliant. I think Gandalf and Sauron were both on point.
