That was part of it. Those yokals were fueled by many of the same people who were poisoning the instate recruiting wells
to Mark also.
There is basketball royalty in Utah — which is connected to all the universities. Pope found himself in a very bad way with quite a few of those people from Day 1 of taking the job. Those people don't just affect recruiting, but they affect the fan base as well.
It's something about BYU I've always hated. It's one reason why the yewts have had a lot of power over our AthDept for the last 20 years. Many of those people are BYU people — only when they want to be. And when they aren't — they are yewts.
