What is happening this year with the football program is likely going to cause long-term damage to the program. They will lose out on transfers, NIL, recruits and national interest as their football program heads to the dumpster. It might take them years to pull out of what is happening right now.
And the basketball program will likely be a perennial bottom-dweller in the Big 12. And I don’t see the SEC or Big 10 salivating over inviting such mediocrity. If they brought any financial plus to the situation, or a large new TV market…the mediocrity would be overlooked. But Utah doesn’t offer either of those…and in comparison to BYU’s value in these areas, they are not better than us.
And I don’t think those four loss Rose Bowl losing seasons are going to be viewed as an enticing tradition-add either.
