I think it all depends on what your ultimate goal is. If you think you have a legitimate shot at pro ball, yes, sitting on the bench would suck.
If you realize that you're just a step below that, I'd much rather play a ton of ball in practices, get all the extra benefits that come with being a BYU basketball player, get paid to get a BYU degree than to be a starter at the Big Sky level.
It's funny that you mention Tanner and Jake Toolson. One was borderline NBA talent and one was borderline college talent.
