Every season, we see hilarious transitive property of wins tables that can be used to argue that a bottom-feeder team is better than a top 5 team with a loss (see this thread for the tongue in cheek argument that Kennesaw State is better than all SEC teams—they have transitive wins over all 16).
More to the point, I wouldn't bet money on BYU over Clemson, and (holding aside the Mormon prohibition on gambling) I doubt many on this board would either.
