the offensive coordinator was just absolutely horrible. most of the offensive staff was around since riley or stoops. and the offense has been elite with several people running the offense. this guy just sucked. and got fired 2 days ago.

it seems venables has been too focused on defense. and it’s worked for the defense, cause the defense is top 10 in the country in efficiency.

with a good OC, OU is fine. but venables HAS to hire a good OC and has to do so consistently. he needs to be more of a head coach and less of a defensive coordinator too.

we’ll see how it goes, but OU won’t be down for long. at least not any longer than texas after brown left or bama after bryant left. too much money, too much history, such a good place for football geographically. OU will poach one of the up and coming coaches if venables doesn’t work out. bama may do the same. it’s how CFB works when the blue bloods have coaches retire.

riley got worse every year at OU. once he ran out of stoops recruits, it was gonna be bad anyways.
