Listening to John Kurz today talking about in the cases of OU and USC that being able to cash a bigger check does not make up for the challenges of tougher competition and longer travel (especially in the case of USC). Oklahoma fans are used to high octane offenses, double digit win totals, Heismn caliber QBs and always being able to sniff the playoff. This year both teams will be lucky to be bowl eligible. I watched the highlights of Oklahoma and South Carolina this last saturday where OU got boat raced at home and the boo birds were out en masse. The difference in athleticism was striking. SC had a pick 6 and a scoop & score within the first 10 minutes of the game and OU's QB was running for his life most of the time.

Be careful what you wish for. With it's dependence on Texas recruits OU could be in for long period of mediocrity.
