Perhaps, and just hear me out, they practiced it the same way every play is
practiced. He had a key to read, and with that key he was supposed to throw the ball. Without the key he was supposed to tuck it and run.

He read his key, which was likely something to do with the safety’s position and/or Lassiter having a step on him, and threw it. The problem was Lassiter got mugged from behind and it ended up getting picked.

If you think Parker Kingston or any other QB operates differently than “read a key and deliver the ball” then I’m not sure what to tell you. In this particular situation it wasn’t a difficult read or throw, and 95% of the players on the team could have done it successfully in most circumstances. This happened to just be one of the “other” circumstances where it failed.
