better than UMass the next year. Definitely should have them equally ranked to start the season since we just don't know if UMass had the #1 recruiting class in history and is now better than the champs.

Rankings don't matter whatsoever for the first 10 weeks of the season, so it doesn't matter if the voters give Iowa State a couple extra spots because they started higher than BYU. By week 10 the rankings will be sorted with this season's performance. Until then, don't worry about it.
