i served in puerto plata! dominican spanish is fast, sloppy and they typically drop the s. some country folks in the
north also replace the r’s ending a word with an “i” pronounced like “ee”.

when I first arrived to the mission, I thought I knew Spanish pretty well from the MTC and I couldn’t understand anybody. I got pretty great at dominican Spanish before I left and my advanced Spanish teacher when I got home recognized from my first sentence I served in the DR. it’s distinct.
