Yeah I can’t say for sure if it’s affecting the actual hatch rate, or time on the surface, or just the fish directly,
but more fish rising during BWO hatches when it’s also snowing or raining. It’s been a very consistent correlation for me.

Now that I think about it, I had an early-spring day on the Provo years ago when the baetis were out and it was intermittent snow and sun. Lots of bugs, but the fish actually fed better on the surface in the minutes when the sun peeked through. Every time the sun came out just a little, the rises more than doubled and we caught more fish.

So that might suggest that the precipitation is affecting the bugs more than the fish directly.

If you hit strawberry don’t sleep on trying a chubby on the surface.
