I agree with your rules, But I still feel like BYU controls ~90% of their destiny

But as to the other 10% that BYU does not control, I think your rules are definitely in line with what is most important.

#1) Never Utah - Completely agree this is the most important thing.
We want to win all the in-state recruiting battles and get the state firmly backing BYU. I was too young, but I hear that SL county was a majority BYU fans back in the 80's. Getting the whole state behind BYU means more NIL money from within the state, plus within the church, we can continue to be very competitive.

Exception - In the rare circumstance that the last week of the regular season a Utah win would get BYU to the Big12 championship game. . . I would actually root for Utah. Luckily that is extremely unlikely, so I don't have to pretend to cheer for the yewts.
