really struggling with work and subsequently mental health. During our annual meeting with our financial advisor he mentioned that we could retire early and still be okay financially. It took a year of planning and re-running the numbers with him to finally make the move but I eventually did. We downsized the house and bought in a cheaper area. My work then asked me if I wanted to consult with them. I've done that for two years now and work about 12-15 hours a week on my own schedule. It keeps me mentally engaged and I've become more involved in a lot of BYU sports (men's and women's). We have travelled a bit to see BYU football and basketball games as well as lots of volleyball, soccer and softball games. We aren't as rich as I always wanted to be but my mental health is much better and I enjoy life much more. Not saying everyone can do this at their point in life but it might be worth checking into with your financial advisor. Best of luck.
