Yeah man, that's tough. I coached at a high level for years, championships,
A-teams, etc. No matter what I did, there was always a parent that complained. And my sons played O-Line and D-Line.
I learned a lot, but anytime we blew a team out, I had the backups ready to go to help create special moments. I had 2 seasons where every player scored that wasn't an x-man.
I learned to be more realistic about a player when they complained. I would ask the parents to wait 48 hours before emailing and texting, then would set up meetings with the player and parents and was matter of fact without comparing kids to others.
I even asked a chirpy parent to come help at practice, which was very eye opening for that parent and totally changed our relationship.
I would encourage you to do what you can to have an amazing banquet and find ways to highlight some of the bench players via various awards. That will help to leave a good taste in their mouths and get them pumped up for the next season.

I probably put my full opportunity cost of coaching near $100k all in through lost investments, spent political capital, etc. It is a huge sacrifice to coach that very few people understand.
