Maybe "main reason" is better phrasing. Look at ratings, attendance, viewership

numbers before CC and after. The whole WNBA should be really grateful she came along to raise interest in women's basketball from a broader audience. There is a reason that the WNBA had to be subsidized by NBA to even make it for so many years-- there was very little interest in the product.
