To get to the point where their football team is a consistent top 25 team. But they don't want to pay top 25 team ticket prices.
This week the University of Tennessee announced a 10% increase on every single ticket starting next season that will essentially be used for NIL. That is separate from additional ticket fee increases which are going to come as well. There are a few complainers, but the overwhelming majority of Tennessee fans are completely fine with that because they know it's what will be needed to remain competitive. Obviously the Vols are a step ahead of where BYU is at this point in time (maybe two or three steps); but BYU is where they were a few years ago. BYU wants to compete with the best in football, they're going to have to do like they are currently doing with basketball and open the wallet. And that can't be expected to come from just big time donors only. The rank and file game attendees are going to have to help shoulder a little bit of that cost. Programs like Tennessee no one recognize that. Their fans are okay with it, and BYU fans are going to need to be okay with it as well IF they want to not lose ground.
So ticket prices that cost more than they did as a member of the MWC or even Indy should be expected.
