No one in the right mind outside of the BYU base believes that Utah wasn’t deserving a big 12.
In fact, outside of P2 and the elite of the ACC, not that many programs come anywhere close to Utah in terms of wins, consistency and rankings, recruiting etc.
But you know very well, expansion is all about TV ratings.
BYU fans therefore think because they have a large fan base, they have a national brand…and because (in their belief system) Utah has no history, no brand, no fans and no one who cares outside of Salt Lake City — Utah is an unattractive expansion candidate.
But that’s not what translates to TV ratings.
Compelling games, with intriguing national matchups are what expansion has been all about this go around.
This week is a good example.
BYU is playing host to a To higher ranked team than Utah, sits at 3-0 With more impressive wins than Utah… yet Fox didn’t hesitate in their first pick taking the Utah Oklahoma State match over KSU-BYU.
(I like BYU. I love this matchup against KSU. Can’t believe it not getting more attention)
In fact, talk about UU-OSU game is all over college football. Coverage in analysis everywhere. Getting arguably as much or more as USC Michigan.
And almost as much as Oklahoma Tennessee.
This is a huge game.
How is that possible if Utah is such a ratings dog, Undeserving of big 12, etc?
Seems like there is a disconnect between the national respect and appreciation of the Utah program and BYU fans contrive.
