No social media for our kids.
That is restricted and blocked. But yes on texts/calls. We monitor the texts with spot checks. But this is how teenagers communicate and plan now.
The biggest thing on the learning curve for us as parents was blocking social media. Human nature is to waste way too much time on it (notice all of us on CB). So lessons learned. It was a bit of a fight, but our girls are happier now that they don't have to deal with Insta. That app was a problem in so many nuanced ways.
We do have screen time limits, but are pretty liberal about adding time on weekends if they are getting homework/chores done and grades are up.
