He is maneuvering the pocket better and throwing some absolute dimes that many don't give him much credit for. I think there will be struggles, but if he can be a bit smarter about which risks he should take he can be a decent QB. Not sure if he has that in him, but if he takes a couple sacks or throws a couple throws away instead of forcing tough throws, he would have some good numbers this year. Playing in the B12 is a different animal, so I am hopeful he can settle in and that WY gave him some confidence. KState will be a big test and as long as he doesn't force it unnecessarily, BYU should have a chance to win it.
Taking care of the ball and stopping the run will be paramount in this game. Jake needs to be decent for this team to win. I don't think that being super run heavy is going to work for this team in conference. BYU's best healthy runners are newbies that likely don't understand all of their protections and running plays yet. That is a recipe for being predictable and easy to stop. Have to be able to pass the ball to be successful.
