Overall the team has performed better than I thought they would through the first 3 games. Pleased with 3-0, but lots of concerns. And of course, we know the schedule has been weak, but exactly how weak is still tbd.

The defense has significantly exceeded my expectations. And I love the depth being utilized. But we were a little lucky in the SMU game. There were a couple of key plays where there was an open receiver but the QB just missed him. Overall very good, now hopefully we see more of the same in B12 play.

The offense has been a little disappointing. Some of my concerns are that they seem to completely disappear for long stretches. Which is related to their abysmal 3rd down performance. I have not seen a breakdown of success by distance remaining for a first down, but it seems to be poor success regardless. And the run game continues to be terrible. It looked ok in game1. I expect a drop off with a loss of the #1 and #2 RBs, but not seeing much in the way of lanes. Would LJ and Ropati have done much better? Perhaps so.

JR has done ok. I was hoping for more of a step up, but seems to be more of the same. He makes some great throws and then some terrible ones. The receivers made some amazing catches yesterday. He has flashes, but my confidence that he is going to figure it out and settle down is waning …especially since the level of competition is about to take a major step up.
