There is a 3rd option. There is a real difference between teasing and bullying.
Kids giving each other a hard time is very different than real bulling, which is abhorrent. If we're being honest with each other, we all know the difference, but we've gotten so soft now we act like everything is bullying, and can't seem to operate at all in the gray. We need to be careful because trying to defy human nature, and remove some of the innate mechanisms that are actually essential to raising resilient, well-rounded kids. Too much protectionism can lead to far worse things on the macro level that I'm not sure we fully appreciate yet.
