When everyone bolted the PAC12, they didn't realize that, per their contracts,
the remaining universities could then exclusively conduct the business of the conference. So WSU and OSU won a court proceeding that granted them sole owners of all the booty in the PAC12 and all of their assets. The departing schools never considered that possibility quick enough before they entered agreements with new conferences. So, WSU and OSU kept money the conference continued to receive from contracts previously in place from many sources and have been soaking in a tub of Benjamins ever since. I don't know what the total amount was, but it's funded this endeavor.
