Probably never heard Osaka Ben. I spent most of my time around Nagoya/aichi. You would hear snippets, especially from other elders who went to mie Ken (though not technically kansai, it was next door to wakayama Ken).
My last area was shiga Ken, right next to Kyoto. One member that always did stuff with us, like knocking doors, spoke with a pretty heavy Kyoto and Osaka Ben. Luckily, at that point I could pretty well grasp what he was saying even though I didn’t fully catch all “grammar”.
I really felt bad for all the green beans whose first areas were around the kansai area. After having all that MTC language training, and having a harder time bridging that and “real” Japanese was hard enough. Through in Osaka or any variation would have been mind blowing.
